He worked with Weber at the Dresden Opera from 1823 to 1826. His most famous works are Der Vampyr (1828); Der Templer und die Jüdin (1829), based on Scott's Ivanhoe; and Hans Heiling (1833). Marschner's operas continued Weber's romantic style; his use of full orchestration influenced Wagner.
