Marshal of a Combat Arm 

of special forces, and of aviation; a military rank in the Soviet armed forces.

The rank’s of marshal of aviation, of artillery, and of the armored troops were introduced by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on Jan. 16, 1943; the ranks of marshal of the engineer troops and marshal of the signal troops were introduced by decree on Oct. 9, 1943. The ranks of marshal of a combat arm and marshal of aviation are equivalent to the rank of general of the army and the rank of admiral of the fleet in the navy.
