Martin, Allie Beth Dent (1914–76) librarian; born in Annieville. After working at several librarian positions in Arkansas and getting an M.A. from the Columbia University School of Library Service (1949), she went with her husband to Tulsa, Okla., and began working in the Tulsa Public Library system. She became director of the Tulsa City-County Library (1963) after campaigning vigorously for improved library services. The Tulsa library was transformed into a model system and Martin, along with architect Charles F. Ward, formed a consultant firm, Library Design Associates, Inc., active throughout the Southwest. She was president of the Southwestern Library Association (1969–70) and was president of the American Library Association (1975–76).
