Marusha Nefedev

    0.01 sec.
Nefed’ev, Marusha

Dates of birth and death unknown. Russian 16th-century printer.

In official documents issued by Ivan IV on Feb. 9 and Mar. 22, 1556, Nefed’ev is mentioned as a master of printed books. There is reason to believe that Nefed’ev worked in the first Moscow “anonymous” printing shop. In the 1550’s and 1560’s, the printing shop issued seven known publications, including the first book printed in Moscow, the Four Gospels (c. 1553, condensed type). Nothing is known about his life.
