Location: 40 miles southeast of Boston, Massachusetts. Special Features: A head-start program has been implemented on the refuge and surrounding ponds to expand the range of the Plymouth redbelly turtle into additional ponds, and increase the number of turtles in ponds with existing populations. From 1980 to 2002, more than 2,000 head-started turtles have been released in 22 sites. Habitats: 184 acres of upland, lakeshore, and pond. Access: Closed to the public.
