Master Die
a tool for the production (stamping) of dies or their parts, such as male and female dies and inserts. Hot stamping of the die block with a master die instead of milling increases the wear resistance of the die and significantly reduces the cost of its manufacture by decreasing the extent of mechanical processing. The master die design is produced by milling, thermal treatment (to a Rockwell C hardness of 60), and polishing. A single master die may be used to produce up to 150-200 dies.
