Matthews, (Albert) Franklin (1858–1917) journalist; born in St. Joseph, Mich. As reporter and editor of the New York Sun (1890–1912), he covered the Spanish-American War and the around-the-world cruise of the U.S. Navy's "Great White Fleet" (1907–08).
