Matyra

a river in Tambov and Lipetsk oblasts, RSFSR. A left tributary of the Voronezh River in the Don Basin. Length, 180 km; basin area, 5,180 sq km. It rises and flows within the Oka-Don Plain. It is fed mainly by snow. The average annual water flow 39 km from the mouth is 11.7 cu m per sec. It freezes over in November or early December and thaws in late March or the first half of April. The city of Griazi is located on the river. The river has a reservoir.
