Saint Maurice (sānt môr`ĭs, Fr. săN môrēs`), river, c.325 mi (520 km) long, rising in the Laurentian Mts., S Que., Canada, and flowing SE and S to the St. Lawrence River at Trois Rivières. It passes La Tuque, Grand' Mère, and Shawinigan Falls, where waterfalls furnish hydroelectric power. The river is important for the transportation of lumber. How to thank TFD for its existence?
