Mauser
one of the first most powerful automatic pistols with a caliber of 7.63 mm. It was first produced by the German Mauser Company in 1896 and was modernized in 1908. It was adopted by many armies (such as those of Germany, Great Britain, and Czechoslovakia). The operating principle of the Mauser was based on recoil of the barrel and a slide; the barrel was able to move a short distance. The pistol had a builtin, unremovable magazine for six or ten, and, with an attached magazine, 20 cartridges. It hit targets reliably at a distance of 100 m and was kept in a wooden holster. In the early 20th century Mausers were shipped to Russia. They were used extensively during the Civil War of 1918-20. Mauser pistols with calibers of 6.35 and 9 mm were also produced.
