Mauser Wilhelm and Peter Paul
Wilhelm Mauser, born May 2, 1834; died Jan. 13, 1882. Peter Paul Mauser, born June 27, 1838, in Oberndorf, Neckar; died there May 28, 1914. German engineers, gunsmiths, and entrepreneurs. In 1866 the Mauser brothers designed a single-shot rifle and revolver, which in 1871 were adopted by the German Army. In 1874 they became owners of an arms plant in Oberndorf that produced various types of weapons. In 1896 they designed an automatic 7.63-mm pistol (the Mauser), which, after modernization in 1908, was adopted by the armies of many countries. The Mauser brothers also designed a small “civilian” pistol, a magazine rifle, and other types offirearms. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
