Mavlianova, Khanifa Mukhiddinovna
Born 1924 in Khodzhent, now Leninabad. Soviet Tadzhik singer (soprano). People’s Artist of the USSR (1968). Member of the CPSU since 1952. Mavlianova graduated from the Leninabad School of Music in 1936. From 1937 to 1939 she performed at the Leninabad Young People’s Theater, and between 1939 and 1943 she was a soloist at the musical drama theater. Since 1943 (with an interruption) she has been the lead female singer at the S. Aini Tadzhik Theater of Opera and Ballet. She studied at the Moscow Conservatory from 1952 to 1959. Mavlianova’s voice is remarkable for its power and wealth of timbre nuances. Her best parts have been Gul’ru in Saifiddinov’s Pulat and Gul’ru, Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, laroslavna in Borodin’s Prince Igor, and Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore. Among the parts she has sung in comic operas are Maisara in ludakov’s Maisara’s Pranks and Surma in Urbakh’s The Noble Bridegroom. She also performs as a concert singer and teaches at the Dushanbe Institute of Arts. She was a deputy to the fourth convocation of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
