Mazatlan

Mazatlán 

a city and port on the Pacific coast of Mexico, at the entrance to the Gulf of California in the state of Sinaloa. Population, 171,800 (1970, with suburbs). There is a railroad station. It has food-processing and textile industries as well as an ocean fishing industry. Produce (cotton, peanuts, tobacco, and cocoa) from irrigated farming is exported. Nonferrous metal ores are mined near Mazatlán.
