McConnell, David Hall

McConnell, David Hall (1858–1937) business executive; born in Oswego, N.Y. He began his career with a batch of perfume in 1886 and founded California Perfume Company (later Avon Products) to sell perfume, toiletries, and cosmetics door-to-door. The company sales force numbered 5,000 within 12 years and 30,000 by the 1930s. He was Avon's owner, president, and chairman until his death.
