McCormick, Anne Elizabeth

McCormick, Anne Elizabeth (b. O'Hare) (1882–1954) journalist; born in Yorkshire, England. She won esteem as a European correspondent for the New York Times, especially for prescient stories in the 1930s on the rise of Benito Mussolini in Italy. She joined the paper's editorial board in 1936, and the following year, was the first woman to win a major Pulitzer Prize. She interviewed many world leaders, from Adolf Hitler to Harry Truman.
