Established: 1980.
Location: Along the Texas gulf coast, near the Louisiana border.
Facilities: Visitor contact station, viewing sites, trails, boat ramps.
Activities: Boating, canoeing, fishing, crabbing, hiking, hunting.
Special Features: McFaddin NWR supports one of the largest populations of alligators in Texas.
Habitats: 55,000 acres of freshwater and brackish marsh.
Access: Open during daylight hours.
Wild life: Warblers, vireos, grosbeaks, tanagers, orioles, American alligators, muskrat, river otter, raccoon, striped skunk, bobcat, gray fox, and coyote.
