Meade State Park Location: 13 miles southwest of Meade, on Highway 23. Facilities: 42 campsites with with water and electrical hookups, 150 primitive campsites, nature trail, swimming beach and bathhouse, boat ramp, courtesy dock, day use areas, picnic shelters. Activities: Camping, boating (fishing boats only), fishing, swimming, hunting (on adjacent lands). Special Features: Located in the shortgrass prairie region of the state, Meade is the only state park in southwest Kansas. The park is situated around Meade State Fishing Lake, which offers excellent fishing for bluegill, crappie, channel cat, and largemouth bass. (Boats with motors must be used for fishing only, and no skiing or pleasure boating is permitted on the lake.)
