Meason, Isaac (1742–1818) ironmaster; probably born in Virginia. He arrived in western Pennsylvania about 1771 and established Union Furnace by 1791. Here and at other locations, he manufactured the kitchenware and tools needed by the thousands of people coming over the Allegheny mountains. He contributed to the start of western Pennsylvania's iron and coal industry. How to thank TFD for its existence?
