Final tribute: Buck O'Neil, who spent a joyous lifetime ensuring that the Negro Leagues would always be remembered, was celebrated at the White House where he was posthumously bestowed the Presidental Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. In 1995, President Clinton presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. |
