media player(1) Software that "plays" audio, video or animation files. In the Windows world, Windows Media Player is the default player from Microsoft, but RealPlayer, iTunes and other software is also widely used. QuickTime Player and iTunes are the media players for the Mac that come from Apple. Most media players are also digital jukeboxes that organize a user's music collection, and they may also include Internet radio.
