Name Origin: For the Medina River and Lake, in the northern part of the county. Possibly named for a member of Alonzo de Leon's expedition into TX (1689): either Pedro Medina, an engineer, or Nicolas de Medina, a sergeant major. Area (sq mi): 1334.53 (land 1327.76; water 6.77).
