Mediterranean Race

one of the races of the great Europeoid race. The Mediterranean race is characterized by dark, wavy hair, dark eyes, swarthy skin, a narrow nose with a straight ridge, thick lips, average height, and dolichocephalism. It is distributed in southern Europe among the Portuguese, Spanish, southern Italians, southern French, and Corsicans, in North Africa among the Berbers and Arab peoples, and in some areas of Southwest Asia. Many Soviet anthropologists include the Mediterranean race in the larger systematic category of the Indo-Mediterranean race.
