Medved’, Aleksandr Vasil’evich
Born Sept 16, 1937, in Belaia Tserkov’, Kiev Oblast. Soviet wrestler; Honored Master of Sports (1964); docent at the Minsk Radio Engineering Institute. Member of the CPSU since 1965. Medved’ has been an Olympic champion (1964, 1968, 1972), many times world champion (1962-63, 1966-67, 1969-71), champion of Europe (1966, 1968, 1971-72), and champion of the USSR (eight times in 1961-70) in free-style middleweight and heavyweight wrestling.
