Meeker, Nathan Cook (1817–79) journalist, Indian agent; born in Euclid, Ohio. He became the agricultural editor of the New York Tribune in 1865 and founded Union Colony at Greeley, Colo. in 1869. He was killed by Ute Indians while serving as an Indian agent.
