Melange Fabric

    0.01 sec.
Mélange Fabric

a fabric made from single or spun mélange yarn. It is distinguished from multicolored or dyed fabrics by its unique color effect. The finishing operations for cotton mélange fabric do not include bleaching, as it would destroy the fibers’ color; the finishing is reduced primarily to clipping, napping, and dressing the fabric. The finishing operations for woolen mélange fabrics are the same as those normally used in fabric finishing. The most popular cotton mélange fabrics are tricot, cheviot, cavalry twill (tricotine), canton, covert, and thin felt. Examples of woolen mélange fabrics are felt mélange and drab mélange.
