Mendocino Woodlands State Park Location: 9 miles east of Mendocino and 7 miles inland from the coast. Facilities: Three group camps, each with kitchens, dining and recreation halls, 2- and 4-bedroom cabins, and communal restrooms with hot showers; trails. Activities: Hiking, swimming. Special Features: Park is situated in the heart of a redwood forest and features 200 wood and stone buildings built by the WPA and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. Buildings throughout the Park feature walls of old growth redwood, hand-hewn beams, and hand-crafted stone fireplaces.
