Men’shov, Dmitrii Evgen’evich 

Born Apr. 6 (18), 1892, in Moscow. Soviet mathematician. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1953).

Men’shov graduated from Moscow University in 1916 and was appointed a professor there in 1922. He obtained fundamental results pertaining to problems of the uniqueness and representation of functions in trigonometric series and to the theory of convergence and summability of general orthogonal series. Men’shov also investigated the theory of conformal mappings and the theory of the monogeneity of a function of a complex variable. A recipient of the State Prize of the USSR (1951), he has been awarded the Order of Lenin, two other orders, and several medals.
