Meshedi-Misrian
ruins of the medieval city of Dakhistan, in Turkmen SSR, 22 km northwest of the settlement of Madau, in Kizyl-Atrek Raion. There are remains of a mosque portal (early 13th century) and two minarets (1102 and early 13th century). Nearby are the remains of an irrigation system. North of Meshedi-Misrian are a number of medieval mausoleums and the Shir-Kabir Mosque (also known as Sheikh-Kevir, apparently from the ninth or tenth century). The mosque has a carved mihrab.
