Messidor 

(from Latin messis, “harvest,” and Greek doron, “gift”), the tenth month of the year in the French republican calendar adopted by the Convention in October 1793 and in effect until Jan. 1, 1806. Messidor covered the period from June 19–20 to July 18–19.

REPORT: FRANCE Prix Messidor G3 Maisons-Laffitte 1m (straight), 3yo+ THE Aga Khan-owned Alnadana was kept in training as a four-year-old in order to win a Group race, and she did just that yesterday when outclassing five rivals in the Prix Messidor at MaisonsLaffitte, writes Desmond Stoneham.
On the same card, Saeed bin Suroor runs Librettist in the Prix Messidor.
The four-year-old, who defeated Rakti in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot at York in June, is unbeaten in his last three outings, with his latest win coming in the Group Three Prix Messidor at Maisons-Laffitte in July.
