Metcalfe, Ralph (Harold) (1910–78) U.S. representative, athlete; born in Atlanta, Ga. Winner of Olympic track medals in 1932 and 1936, track coach, and army veteran, he was a Chicago alderman (1955–67) and congressman (Dem., Ill.; 1971–78).
