In 1990, Pellmyr and his colleagues reported that fritillary butterflies seek the scent of only one form, probably because of its irresistible methyl anthranilate and isoeugenol. Both are a food grade repellents made of Methyl Anthranilate, a synthetic grape flavoring agent in food and beverages; perfume and fruit essence formulations; oxidation inhibitor and sunscreening agent for cosmetics, soaps, alcohols, fatty acids, paraffin, and protective coatings for picked fruits and vegetables. |
