H2NC6H4CO2CH3A yellowish to colorless liquid, slightly soluble in water; used in flavoring and in perfumery. Also known as artificial neroli oil.

In 1990, Pellmyr and his colleagues reported that fritillary butterflies seek the scent of only one form, probably because of its irresistible methyl anthranilate and isoeugenol.
Both are a food grade repellents made of Methyl Anthranilate, a synthetic grape flavoring agent in food and beverages; perfume and fruit essence formulations; oxidation inhibitor and sunscreening agent for cosmetics, soaps, alcohols, fatty acids, paraffin, and protective coatings for picked fruits and vegetables.
