Metreveli, Aleksandr Iraklievich
Born Nov. 2, 1944, in Tbilisi. Soviet tennis player. Honored Master of Sport (1966). Journalist. Between 1966 and 1973, Metreveli was tennis champion of the USSR 17 times. Between 1967 and 1973 he was champion of Europe nine times in various classes. In 1967–72, Metreveli was a repeated winner of open championships in Asia, the Arab Republic of Egypt, India, and in several states of the Common-wealth of Australia.
