Michałowski, Kazimierz 

Born Nov. 14, 1901, in Ternopol’, now in the Ukrainian SSR. Polish archaeologist, Egyptologist, and art historian. Member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1952). Appointed a professor at the University of Warsaw in 1933.

Michałowski directed Polish archaeological expeditions in Egypt (Idfu, Tell Atrib, Alexandria), the Crimea (Myrmecium), Syria (Palmyra), Nubia (Faras), and elsewhere.
