Microbe Filters

apparatus used to rid fluids of microorganisms by filtration. Materials used in microbe filters include fused glass particles, cellulose esters (membrane filters), an asbestos-cellulose mixture (Seitz filters), and unglazed porcelain. Microbe filters are used to sterilize liquids that spoil when heated.
