Falconet

a term applied to ordnance with calibers from 45 to 100 mm, used in armies and navies from the 16th to the 18th century. The first Russian falconets were cast in 1547 and weighed 250 kg. During the 18th century the term “falconet” was used in several armies to refer to regimental cannons with calibers between 45 and 55 mm. Falconets fired lead balls and were hauled by one or two horses. In the navy, falconets were used on oared vessels and yachts.
