Windows 7

The successor to Windows Vista. Expected no earlier than 2010 and formerly code named "Blackcomb" and "Vienna," Windows 7 is supposed to be more user friendly, focusing on how a user works rather than on applications.

As with all major upgrades of dominant software, rumors are rampant before features are officially announced. For example, the server version of Windows 7 is expected to be 64 bits only, and applications are expected to run in a sandbox that restricts access to files and external resources for greater security. Multitouch screen capability is also expected. See sandbox, multitouch and Windows Vista.
