Saluda River

River, west-central South Carolina, U.S. Rising in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in northern and southern forks that join northwest of Greenville, the main stream flows southeast past Pelzer. After a course of about 145 mi (233 km), it joins the Broad River at Columbia to form the Congaree River. The name Saluda is of Indian origin, probably meaning “river of corn.”
