Mikhail Artemevich Kuznetsov

Kuznetsov, Mikhail Artem’evich 

Born Feb. 25, 1918, in Noginsk. Soviet Russian actor; People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1965).

Kuznetsov graduated in 1941 from the drama section of the K. S. Stanislavsky State Opera and Drama Studio in Moscow. He made his motion-picture debut while still a student. In Mashen’ka (1942) he played the chauffeur Aleksei. His best roles were Fedor Basmanov in Ivan the Terrible (parts 1 and 2, 1945 and 1958), Doctor Kolesov in In the Name of Life (1947), the soldier Skobelev in Taras Shevchenko (1951), Chizhik in Sailor Chizhik (1956), Political Officer Kovalenko in An Extraordinary Occurrence (parts 1–2, 1959), Coach Anton Lutenko in The Silver Coach (1963), and Colonel Lartsev in Game Without Rules (1965). Kuznetsov was awarded the State Prize of the USSR (1952) and the Order of the Badge of Honor.
