Milnes, Sherrill (Eustace) (1935– ) baritone; born in Downers Grove, Ill. American-trained, Milnes made his Metropolitan Opera debut in Faust in 1965 and became one of the favorites at that house. He is admired as much for his dramatic abilities as for his striking voice, his celebrated roles including Don Giovanni and Iago.
