Milo Milunovic

    0.01 sec.
Milunović, Milo

Born Aug. 6, 1897, in Cetinje, Montenegro; died May 25, 1967, in Belgrade. Montenegrin painter.

Milunović studied in Florence from 1912 to 1914. He lived primarily in Belgrade from 1919 to 1922 and in Paris from 1926 to 1932. In 1937 he was appointed a professor at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade. Milunovic was influenced by P. Cezanne and cubism. In the 1920’s his work was in the spirit of neoclassicism. In the 1930’s Milunovic turned to an impressionistic style. His works done after 1945 are characterized by a bright decorativeness, clear, somewhat oversimplified drawing, and the use of national motifs. Milunovic painted a number of murals, for example, the frescoes in the building of the Executive Veće of the Socialist Republic of Serbia in Belgrade (1955).
