Size: 15 acres.
Established: Established on December 2, 1999. Delta 9 missile site transferred from the Air Force to the National Park System on September 27, 2002. The National Historic Site will be administered with Badlands National Park (see separate entry).
Location: Park headquarters is located on the south side of Exit 131 off I-90, 75 miles east of Rapid City. Launch Control Facility Delta-01 is 4 mile west of headquarters. Launch Facility Delta-09 (missile silo) is located south of I-90 just off exit 116, 15 miles west of park headquarters.
Facilities: Visitor center.
Activities: Ranger-guided tours and talks.
Special Features: Park interprets how the Minuteman missile played a strategic role in the country's defense during the Cold War. It features Launch Control Facility Delta 01 and Launch Facility Delta 09, the sole remaining examples of the original Minuteman system, dating back to the Cuban Missile Crisis.

During the Second World War this area was used as a firing range and this section of the park today houses the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site, where you can take a look at the buildings which once housed one of America''s primary defense installations.
The Minuteman Missile National Historic Site near Wall will be open for the public to see a static display of a 76,000-pound, 59-foot, 10-inch Minuteman II.
