Miracle on 34th Street (1947) above right: Edmund Gwenn won an Oscar for his portrayal of Santa Claus, and he has made believers of every kid who has seen this movie. This is one commercial that actually gives me a warm feeling, as it reminds me of the scene in Miracle on 34th Street when the Macy's Santa sends mothers to competitors to find the toys their children covet. Beyond those points of dispute, Finstad shows that the star of such classics as Miracle on 34th Street and West Side Story had plenty of tragedy and drama in her life before drowning in 1981. |
