Mirsaiaf Amirov

Amirov, Mirsaiaf Masalimovich 

(pseudonym: Mirsai Amir). Born Dec. 24, 1906 (Jan. 6, 1907), in the village of Zirgan, present-day Meleuz Raion, Bashkir ASSR. Tatar Soviet writer, Honored Art Worker of the Tatar ASSR (1945). Member of the CPSU since 1939.

Amirov’s works began to be published in 1926. His novellas A Man of Our Village (1933) and Agidel’ (1936) depict the class struggle in the village during the period of collectivization. Amirov’s plays Minnikamal (1944) and Song of Life (1947) depict the heroic labor of women collective farm workers during the Great Patriotic War. In his play The Song Continues (1948), Amirov shows the struggle with the vestiges of private property in the collectivized village. His novels People From lalantau (1954) and Pure Soul (1959) tell of the feats of labor of Soviet people. Amirov has also written My Wife and other comedies and the heroic drama Freedom (1960).
