Alimov, Mirzorakhmat
Born Dec. 22, 1890 (Jan. 3, 1891), in Khodzhent, now Leninabad, Tadzhik SSR; died June 15, 1971. Master of ornamental painting on wood; awarded People’s Artist of the Tadzhik SSR in 1959. Alimov’s works include ornamental panels (1938) in the Museum of Art of the Peoples of the East, Moscow; murals in the Firdausi Public Library in Dushanbe (1952–53); the panels Twenty-five Years of Tadzhikistan (1954) and Fifty Years of Soviet Power (1966–67), both in the K. Bekhzad Museum of Fine Arts, Dushanbe. He received the Rudaki State Prize of the Tadzhik SSR in 1966. Alimov participated in the revolutionary movement in Middle Asia, was chairman of the Khodzhent soviet of deputies in 1918, and a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Turkestan ASSR in 1919.
