In June 2004, Davis participated in the Miss Utah Pageant, then further advanced to the Miss America Scholarship Pageant using "Prevention and Awareness of Brain Injuries" as her platform issue Participation in these contests gave Davis the opportunity to spread her message to other brain injury survivors, as well as teach the public means of prevention. Before she was crowned Miss America 2003 in September of last year, Erika Harold of Urbana, Illinois, had for many years carried a message urging premarital chastity to youngsters across the Prairie State. |
