Mithridates I

(Arsaces VI). Year of birth unknown; died 138 or 137 B.C. King of Parthia (c. 170–138 or 137 B.C.).

Taking advantage of the weakening of the Seleucid state, Mithridates I by 140 B.C. had captured its eastern satrapies, including Media and the greater part of Mesopotamia. Under his rule Parthia conquered Elymais, Persis, and Bactria. His conquests made Parthia a strong power.
