Mladá Boleslav (məlä`dä bô`lĕsläf), Ger. Jungbunzlau, city (1991 pop. 44,459), N central Czech Republic, in Bohemia. The city is an industrial center that manufactures automobiles, tractors, and agricultural machinery. Founded in the 10th cent., it became a center of the Bohemian Brethren (see Moravian Church Moravian Church, Renewed Church of the Brethren, or Unitas Fratrum , an evangelical Christian communion whose adherents are sometimes called United Brethren or Herrnhuters.

Railroad junction. Mladá Boleslav is one of the main centers of Czechoslovakia’s automobile industry, where passenger cars, primarily compact models, are assembled in the reconstructed former Škoda plant, as well as in a new plant built during the 1960’s.
