Isaev, Mladen
Born June 7, 1907, in the village of Ba-liuvitsa, Mikhailovgrad Okrug. Bulgarian poet. Veteran of the revolutionary movement. Hero of Socialist Labor (1967), People’s Cultural Worker of Bulgaria (1970). Member of the Bulgarian Communist Party since 1937. Isaev’s collections of poetry, Conflagrations (1932), Clarity (1936), and The Human Song (1941), are imbued with enthusiasm for the struggle against fascism. Isaev has been an active participant in the construction of socialist culture since 1944. In his romantically colored lyric poetry, Isaev reveals the spiritual world of his contemporaries (the collections Fire, 1946; Love, 1954; Height, 1969). Isaev was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor by the Soviet government in 1967 for his talented translations of Russian poets. He is also a laureate of the Dmitrov Prize (1951).
