mobile phone spam

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.01 sec.

mobile phone spam

Also called "SMS spam," it is the sending of unsolicited ads to cellphones and pagers via text messaging. Bluetooth phones provide another door for receiving spam (see Bluesnarfing).

Call this Number
Text messages have also been used to entice users to place a phone call that incurs a charge each minute the caller stays connected. Although a 900 number is known as a pay-per-call area code in the U.S., foreign countries use different number prefixes. For example, the Bahamas 809 area code can be used as a pay-per-call number. See spam and SMS.
