MobileMe

Also found in: Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
MobileMe
A suite of Internet-based services from Apple. Subscription based, it provides Web-based e-mail, contacts and calendars as well as synchronization of this content on Macs, iPhones, iPod touches, iPads and Windows PCs. It also includes photo and file sharing, cloud storage, Mac remote control and a location to publish a user's iWeb site. Find My Phone helps retrieve a lost iPhone or iPad by pinpointing the device on a map, sending it a "lost and found" message or locking it remotely.

Introduced in 2002 as iTools, it was free to Mac users but was changed to a subscription service soon after. Later renamed .Mac (dot Mac), the name was changed again in 2008 to MobileMe. MobileMe was designed to integrate smoothly with the iLife applications that come with the Mac (see iLife). For more information, visit www.apple.com/mobileme.

The software MobileMe pin-points the location of the phone and the private information is preserved.
lt;p>For example, the new Windows phone's My Phone feature -- which allows Windows Mobile users to synchronize information between their phone and the Web -- is akin to the MobileMe service Apple launched last year for the iPhone.
The upgrade also includes a new security feature, that will allow iPhone users to lock down the device over the air using MobileMe.
